Time for a little update before the rain comes!
Members of the BCO virtually meet with community organization representatives of Ward 1 and 2 on May 21, 2020. The purpose of this meeting was to determine whether surrounding communities were having similar problems with traffic, racing and noise, and if so, what had they done to address the problem.
Interestingly they All are, we are not alone in this. We are working with the community organizations and Councillors from Ward 1 and 2, to review data, infrastructure, OPP presence etc. to move forward with an overall plan that will work for all and ensure each community sustains its own integrity.
Covid results are indicating Peel Region numbers are still increasing. Dr Lawrence Loh medical officer in Peel, continues to encourage residents to protect themselves and others by limiting excursions, avoiding crowds, stay close to home, wash your hands frequently and continue to physical distance. A decision has been made by the Region of Peel that it will maintain status quo for the roads in Belfountain proper. There will not be a Roads Environmental Assessment Review conducted. There will be some maintenance done on the roads in 2022, the roads will not be widened or urbanized.
It has yet to be determined when the Belfountain Conservation Area will open for 2020. As a reminder to all, the CVC created a master plan for renovation of the park in 2018. Reconstruction of the West Credit River bed through the park and, lowering of the damn will begin in 2021. Construction for the visitor centre is scheduled for 2022. The park will be closed for the duration of construction from 2021 to midyear 2023. The CVC is also considering implementation of a reservation system for visitors to the Belfountain Conservation Area.
