For Immediate Release
August 30, 2019
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks has approved the Town of Erin’s Wastewater Environmental Assessment. Following a fifteen-month review period, the Town is now able to move forward with the next steps in the construction of a wastewater treatment plant.
After a comprehensive review of the Town’s Wastewater Environmental Assessment, Minister Yurek, of the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, was satisfied with the data collected and considerations the Town has taken to ensure environmental and economical requirements have been met.
Town Council have been proactively discussing the Town’s wastewater options with key decision makers with the Federal & Provincial Government. Most recently, Council met with the Ministry of Infrastructure, at the 2019 Associations of Municipalities Ontario conference, to discuss potential funding options for the new system.
“The Town of Erin has diligently worked to get to this point and I am thrilled that the Minister is satisfied with the completed assessment,” said Mayor Allan Alls. “As we continue towards the next phase of our project, Council remains dedicated to engaging with residents as we build towards a vibrant future for everyone,” he added.
