Apart from Paterak no one seems to be interested in keeping our taxes under control. Jumping up and down about sprawl is all very good, but we won’t be able to afford to live in this area unless someone takes spending under control. The actual issues in this are communication, services and taxes. All other issues are icing on the cake.
Well, Paterak apparently thinks the Region’s plan to spend $30 million+ of your tax dollars on widening and flattening the roads in Belfountain and area is a good idea, so I’m not sure how that’s keeping taxes under control.
I would like information on the candidates – previous jobs, education, experience.etc.
Please review the links to candidates’ content provided on our home page posting.
Hi Judy,
The best place to find that information is on the candidates’ own websites or by emailing or calling them.
After attending the All Candidates meeting, in my opinion, Ian Sinclair (mayoral candidate) and Barb Shaunessy (Regional candidate) had the best grasp of the actual issues for Belfountain and Caledon and the most interest in helping us with those issues. This is just my personal opinion. But it was clear to me that they are both highly intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable people who did their homework and have a great deal of enthusiasm for the tasks at hand.
Since Belfountain and Caledon are at a crisis point right now – the Green Belt is threatened, as is the Niagara Escarpment and Oak Ridges Moraine – we need strong leadership and people in government who are willing to take on the issues of increasing development covering up farmland and green spaces, the province’s problematic plan for growth, and the threat of turning Belfountain into a suburb of Brampton.
