OPP Report Two Road Deaths Over Canada Day Long Weekend
Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) wrapped up its four-day Canada Day weekend traffic safety campaign on July 2, 2014 with two reported deaths on OPP-patrolled roads.
As part of their traffic safety campaign, the OPP raised awareness about speeding and other forms of aggressive driving, calling on motorists and passengers to do their part to help keep the number of speed-related deaths from rising. Speed is currently the leading contributing factor in road deaths investigated by the OPP so far this year (2014) when compared to distracted and impaired driving.
The OPP dealt with high volumes of traffic throughout the weekend and was pleased to see the majority of motorists driving safely as they made their way to and from their travel destinations.
